| Paris, the capital of France is well known for the many interesting tourist attractions andis very often chosen as the top vacation destination. Combining the elegance and style of the past centuries is with the high fashion demands of today’s modern society, Paris still seems to be everything that one could wish for in a vacation spot.
Everybody heard about Notre Dame Cathedral, La Louvre and The Arch de Triomphe. But what about the Centre Pompidou? Having a high-technology design, this modern building captures more and more of the attention of tourists and the French people as well. And that is because of its fashionable architecture that relates more to the every day working style of the people. But it still has refinement and kind of trendy elegance.
In 2009, Paris had the honorable America’s first family as guests. Barack Obama and his family are known as being people that still have that natural every day style of the regular people. And they enjoy having good time together as a family too. Paris was the only place during the visits through different countries from all over the world where Obama had his family with him. They had a special nice time together in Paris. One of the daughters had her birthday, they went shopping, visited Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower.
Before leaving on Sunday, they visited Centre Pompidou in the morning with its colored pipe architecture. What is so special about this Centre Pompidou is its architecture for which the architects won the Pritzker Prize in 2007. This building has revolutionized the concept of museum architecture. And it is quite interesting to walk through a building shaped by pipes from which there can be seen all of Paris.
It seems that America’s first lady and her family found it very interesting as well because they visited it right before the flight back home on Sunday morning. And the street performers had a warm welcome for America’s president as well: in the pictures taken during Obama’s visit to the Pompidou Centre there can be seen the performers holding a big painting of Obama they have made. But they were not the only ones that were excited about the president’s visit; hundreds of people were on the streets during Obama’s visit to the Centre Pompidou Paris with the hope of seeing him in person. |
